High Productivity Freight Vehicle (HPFV) Monitoring Scheme

Telematics Monitoring Application (TMA)
New telematics requirements for HPFV and mobile cranes in VIC

In Victoria, a High Productivity Freight Vehicle (HPFV) is a heavy vehicle combination that exceeds 26 metres and/or has a GCM in excess of 68.5 tonne.

The Victoria Government has updated the telematics requirements for high-productivity freight vehicles (HPFV) to include smart on-board mass (OBM) systems. It is also offering an alternative to Intelligent Access Program (IAP) for HPFV and mobile crane operators called TMA (Telematics Monitoring Application).

Benefits of TMA over IAP:

  • No non-compliance reports
  • No on-board mass required
  • No installation costs
  • Lower overall cost
  • Simple implementation

Data shared:

  • Time and Date (every 30s)
  • Vehicle Position (every 30s)
  • Vehicle Registration

TMA (or IAP) and Smart OBM are a requirement for HPFV's to operate in Victoria by 1st November 2021.
